Das Eismeer, Die gescheiterte Hoffnung

Das Eismeer, Die gescheiterte Hoffnung

is derived from the original painting. The project has 3 outputs, this one is based on a 3d mesh file printed on a 3 D printer to a 3 dimensional sculpture.

I put the sculpture in the freezer compartment of the fridge and I ask whenever the piece is shown to leave the freezer door open. By closing and opening the fridge door, to help yourself for a "free beer," the freezer compartment creates a freezer burn that ices the sculpture and creates an icy landscape. The free beer in turn should be shared and this get to together creates a happening of sharing and discussing matters. A tradition that goes on for 1000's of years. The fridge symbolizing the architecture and distribution of food, and the landscape of Kasper David Friedrich ties right back into the politics of landscape. I hope those elements it self are a proposition for a conversation. Like in any social sculpture I am interested in the things happen in the cracks of those conversations and meetings.
